His latest move was from the Chicago Bulls to the San Antonio Spurs, who then traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans in February 2022. However, it wasn't his first time being traded mid-season. Young was traded by the Toronto Raptors to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013.

Young was born on June 21, 1988, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Mitchell High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he played basketball and was a top-ranked player in his class. Young spent seven seasons with the 76ers, averaging 13.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He played a crucial role in helping the 76ers make the playoffs in 2011-2012, where they reached the second round before losing to the Boston Celtics. In 2013, Young was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Luc Mbah a Moute, Alexey Shved, and a future first-round draft pick.

After a brief stint with the Timberwolves, Young was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry. He played for the Nets for two seasons, averaging 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. In 2015, he was traded to the Indiana Pacers, where he played for four seasons, averaging 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.

In 2019, Young signed with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent, where he played for two and a half seasons. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in February 2022, but only played four games before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Young has been known for his versatility on the court, with the ability to play both forward positions. He has also been recognized for his defense, being named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2014. Over his career, he has averaged 13.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.

In summary, Thaddeus Young's career has taken him through multiple teams, including the Toronto Raptors, who traded him early on in his career.
